木のスプーン作りのジグ 、あるいはマンドレル

スチュワート・キングさん(Stuart・King)が持っているスプーン作りのジグのコレクションが、flickrに紹介されていました。 これを考え出したWally Hawksは、 20年間秘密にしていたそうです。 このジグに三つのスプーンを取り付けて、カーブの加工ができるそうです。

This jig was made by Wally Hawks from Chesham, Bucks in the 1920s. Wally kept his labour-saving device secret for twenty years to give him an edge on the spoon making market. The jig or mandrill fitted between the lathe centres enabling the 'backing-off' of three spoons at one time. Reloading spoon blanks in the jig was easy with the quick release retaining ring.
